Your Story

Have you or a person close to you received a diagnosis that will either now or overtime reduce your capacity to be heard?
Unmuted Your Story complements and brings to
life your care plan.

In your own voice, with your own words, and if you choose to - your selection of music, Unmuted Your Story is a personal, organic podcast that defines the way you choose to be supported through your journey and the stages of care you may need.

Written care and support plans are crucial, but these can be lost, outdated, and open to interpretation. They can also lack the personal elements of your life experiences that can help tailor your care delivery.

Diagnoses such as a Dementia, Alzheimers and Parkinson's can have fast moving degenerative effects on a person’s capacity for autonomy and independence. Unmuted your Story has been used by individuals from diverse backgrounds, such as:

  • Neurodivergent

  • LGBTQIA+

  • Complex Needs

  • Isolation

  • Ethnic

  • Physical and intellectual disabilities

Unmuted Your Story complements and brings to life your care plan. This audio is multi-purpose:

  1. As audio to clearly outline ‘my care’ for the future.

  2. To act as an aid to memory using music and other voices such as a spouse, sibling or friend(s).

  3. To be a practical and/or emotional audio ‘scrap book or ‘photo album’ for family and those close to you.

How does it work?

Our podcast process is easy to follow, with five stages. No travel requirements, no fancy studio needed. All you need is a mobile phone or laptop that can record your voice clearly.

  1. Contact Us or ask for a referral: Use the contact form to arrange an introductory conversation or ask your care provider to do this on your behalf.

  2. Introductions: We will invite you to a conversation over a Teams or Zoom link to learn what you would like from your personal podcast (future support plans, a family chronicle, a biography). We understand that you may wish to take your time to build trust in our relationship and this may require more than one meeting. We respect your need for time to build this relationship. This meeting would preferably take place on a one-to-one basis without the contributions of family, friends or stakeholders unless requested by the individual.

  3. Recording: The aim is to do this in one session, although two or three sessions can be accommodated. According to your requests, others can contribute to the recording, telling stories and memories. Music can be requested and included at this stage. Within the content of the interview, the future care needs of the individual are frankly discussed.

  4. Production: We will professionally edit and produce the recordings and music to deliver you your personal podcast. This is delivered to you in a digital format as well as on a flash drive with the master being securely stored centrally in accordance with GDPR legislation.

  5. Staying in touch: As your personal journey progresses you may wish to make changes to your original recording, to update your care plan or care requests. Updated audio files will reflect your ongoing care support at your discretion.
